Vols of Honor honors the sacrifice of America's military members and first responders by supporting their spouses and children at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Our goal is to remove financial barriers and create a community of support so these students can pursue their education, build their futures, and thrive on Rocky Top.

Standing with Families Who Serve
The University of Tennessee was built on a foundation of service. As Volunteers, we understand what it means to put others before self. The Vols of Honor was created out of love and appreciation for those that protect our nation and communities as well as the families that too often bear the sacrifice of loss.
A Partnership Built by Shared Values
In 2022, a first-of-its-kind partnership was forged when the University of Tennessee became the first university in the nation to formally partner with Folds of Honor through the creation of the Vols of Honor Endowment. Through this partnership, our shared goal is to completely remove the financial burden of a college education for families that have endured untold loss on behalf of a grateful nation.
Who It Supports
WHO: UT students whose parent was killed or suffered a life-altering disability during service in the military or as a first responder and who still have documented financial need.
What It Provides
PROVIDES: On average, Folds of Honor scholarship recipients still have an average unmet need of over $13,000. The goal of the Vols of Honor is to close that gap and remove all financial barriers to a UT education.
Why It Matters
IMPACT: Less than 1% of Americans volunteer to serve in our Armed Forces and approximately 1.5% serve as a first-responder. These heroes represent the best of us and when they fall, we stand in the gap for their families.
